Maria Montessori - La nouvelle femme

At the turn of the 20th century, Lili d’Alengy (Leïla Bekhti), a famous Parisian courtesan, has a shameful secret—her daughter Tina, born with a disability. Unwilling to care for a child who threatens her reputation and career, she flees to Rome where she meets Maria Montessori (Jasmine Trinca), a doctor who is developing a revolutionary teaching method for children. But Maria too has a secret—a child born out of wedlock—and she is soon forced to choose between her career and her child. Together, the two women will help each other win their place in a man’s world and make history.

Au tout début du XX^e siècle, Lili d’Alengy, une courtisane parisienne bien connue, a un secret honteux: sa fille Tina, qui est née avec un handicap. Peu disposée à s’occuper d’une enfant qui menace sa réputation et sa carrière, elle décide de quitter Paris pour Rome, où elle rencontre Maria Montessori, une femme médecin qui développe une méthode d’apprentissage révolutionnaire pour les enfants. Mais cette dernière cache elle aussi un secret: un enfant né hors mariage. Tout comme Lili, elle doit choisir entre sa carrière et son enfant. Les deux femmes s’entraideront pour gagner leur place dans un monde d’hommes et entrer dans l’histoire.
