La Chimera

Everyone has their own Chimera, something they try to achieve but never manage to find. For the band of tombaroli, thieves of ancient grave goods and archaeological wonders, the Chimera means redemption from work and the dream of easy wealth. For Arthur (O’Connor), the Chimera looks like the woman he lost, Beniamina. To find her, Arthur challenges the invisible, searches everywhere, goes inside the earth—in search of the door to the afterlife of which myths speak. In an adventurous journey between the living and the dead, between forests and cities, between celebrations and solitudes, the intertwined destinies of these characters unfold, all in search of the Chimera. La Chimera premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it received a nine-minute standing ovation. The film stars Josh O’Connor, who starred in Mothering Sunday at Cinéfest in 2021, and features an outstanding supporting performance from Isabella Rosselini, who has been featured in several films at Cinéfest, including The Saddest Music in the World and Infamous in 2003 and 2006 respectively.

Pour Arthur, de retour dans sa petite ville au bord de la mer Tyrrhénienne, il s'agit de Beniamina, son grand amour perdu. Il cherche partout la porte menant à l'au-delà dont parlent certains mythes. Les destins de tous ces personnages s'entremêlent lors d'un périlleux voyage entre la vie et la mort, entre forêts et villes, entre célébrations et solitudes. La Chimera a été présenté en première au Festival de Cannes en mai dernier et a été ovationné pendant neuf minutes. Ce film met en vedette Josh O'Connor, que l'on a pu voir dans Mothering Sunday, présenté lors de Cinéfest en 2021, de même qu'Isabella Rosselini, dont on a pu apprécier le grand talent dans Blue Velvet et The Saddest Music in the World.
