A Poet (Un poeta)

Oscar Restrepo’s (Rios) obsession with poetry brought him no glory. Aging and erratic, he has succumbed to the cliché of the poet in the shadows. Meeting Yurlady (Andrade), a teenage girl from humble roots, and helping her cultivate her talent brings some light to his days, but dragging her into the world of poets may not be the way. A Poet (Un poeta) won the Jury’s Prize – Un Certain Regard at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

Óscar Restrepo n’a pas écrit depuis longtemps. Son obsession pour la poésie ne lui a jamais apporté la gloire. L’amertume le ronge. Vieillissant et instable, il est devenu un artiste des ténèbres, un raté, un cliché. Il rencontre Yurlady, une adolescente issue d’un milieu modeste, et l’aide à cultiver son talent, ce qui ensoleille un peu ses journées. Mais exposer ainsi la jeune femme au monde de la poésie risque de s’évérer malavisé. A Poet (Un poeta) a remporté le Prix du jury (Un certain regard) au Festival de Cannes.
