A Breed Apart

On a remote Canadian farm in 1859, a young boy is thrust into a world of fear and uncertainty after a mysterious illness claims the life of his mother shortly after their arrival from Great Britain. With their first winter fast approaching, the boy must set his grief and anxiety aside to aid his rigid father in ensuring their prized cattle are ready to face the challenging season ahead. But as the land that promised prosperity yields more struggle than gains, their kinship is put to the test. A Breed Apart was filmed in North Bay, Ontario.

En 1859 sur une ferme isolée, un garçon est plongé dans un monde de peur et d’incertitude après la mort de sa mère due à une mystérieuse maladie, et ce, peu après l’arrivée de sa famille de Grande- Bretagne. Leur premier hiver en sol canadien approche à grand pas. Endeuillé et anxieux, le garçon doit malgré tout aider son père très strict à préparer le précieux bétail à affronter les rigueurs du climat. Mais cette terre qui devait assurer leur prospérité ne fait que leur apporter davantage de difficultés que de bénéfices. La relation père-fils est mise à rude épreuve. A Breed Apart a été tourné à North Bay.
