Jeanine (Seyfried), an earnest theater director, has the task of remounting her former mentor's most famous work, the opera Salome. Some disturbing memories from her past will allow her repressed trauma to color the present. Acclaimed Canadian writer/director Atom Egoyan has screened several films at Cinéfest, including The Sweethereafter, Remember, and Guest of Honor. Seven Veils reunites Atom Egoyan with Amanda Seyfriend after previously working together on Chloe, which also screened at Cinéfest in 2009. Actor Douglas Smith recently starred in HBO’s second season of Big Little Lies, Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling, and the 2022 Cinéfest Gala Film Presentation The Swearing Jar.

 

Jeanine, une metteure en scène passionnée, a pour tâche de produire une nouvelle version de la fameuse œuvre de son ancien mentor, l’opéra Salomé. Certains souvenirs troublants de son passé viennent exacerber un traumatisme réprimé et affecter son présent. Plusieurs films du renommé cinéaste canadien Atom Egoya ont été à l’affiche de Cinéfest dans le passé, dont The Sweethereafter, Remember et Guest of Honor. Seven Veils le réunit à nouveau avec l’actrice Amanda Seyfriend, que l’on a pu voir en 2009 dans Chloe, un autre film d’Atom Egoyan présenté lors du festival. Douglas Smith était récemment en vedette dans la deuxième saison de Big Little Lies de HBO, Don’t Worry Darling, un film d’Olivia Wilde, et The Swearing Jar, présenté lors d’un gala de Cinéfest l’an dernier.
