Daniel (Grander), an 11-year-old visually impaired boy, returns home from a walk with his guide dog to find his father Samuel’s (Theis) motionless body in the snow. Everything seems to indicate that he fell to his death from the attic window, but questions remain as to whether it was an accident or suicide. In an absence of witnesses, investigators slowly begin to suspect Sandra (Hüller), wife of the deceased and the mother of Daniel. Charged with potential murder, a trial begins where the life of the couple, whose disputes were recorded by the husband, is dissected against a backdrop of social prejudices faced by women who are seen as independent. Anatomy of a Fall received the Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Director and co-writer Justine Triet became the third female director to achieve the prize, after Jane Campion in 1993 with The Piano and Julia Ducournau in 2021 with Titane, which also screened at Cinéfest.

Anatomie d'une chute vient de remporter la Palme d'or au Festival de Cannes. La réalisatrice et coscénariste Justine Triet est la troisième femme à remporter ce prestigieux prix, après Jane Campion (The Piano, 1993) et Julia Ducournau (Titane, 2021). Ces deux films ont été présentés à Cinéfest.
