Mediha

Having survived kidnapping and enslavement by ISIS, Mediha and her younger brothers, Ghazwan and Adnan, must now attempt to rebuild their lives with the whereabouts of their father, mother and baby brother unknown. Faced by local and international complexities, which continue to affect rescue and accountability efforts eight years after the genocide, the siblings must turn to a network of Yazidi rescuers in the search for their missing family members. The story takes place over three years, across Iraq, Turkey and Syria, highlighting the ongoing and long-lasting impact of ISIS atrocities. Mediha takes us on her quest for justice, confronting her trauma and pain through personal video-diaries, and reclaiming her voice by initiating investigations into her perpetrator. Mediha was executive produced by Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson and won the U.S. Competition Grand Jury Prize at Doc NYC.

Après avoir été kidnappés et réduits à l'esclavage par le groupe État islamique entre 2014 et 2017, Mehida et ses frères cadets Ghazwan et Adnan doivent reconstruire leur vie. Mediha nous entraîne dans sa quête de justice et ses efforts pour surmonter son traumatisme et retrouver sa voix en initiant des enquêtes sur son agresseur. Cette histoire qui se déroule sur une période de trois ans en Iraq, en Turquie et en Syrie nous fait découvrir l'impact durable des atrocités commises par ÉI. Emma Thompson, lauréate d'un Oscar, est la productrice exécutive de Mediha. Le film a mérité le grand prix du jury (compétition américaine) au festival Doc NYC.
