Werther, un jeune romancier charmant, sensible, fougueux et totalement irresponsable, est chargé de faire une course en ville par sa mère. Lors d'une soirée à laquelle il a été invité, il rencontre la jolie Charlotte, qui est fiancée à Albert, un jeune homme droit et imposant. Des liens amoureux se tissent entre Werther et elle.
